“No day, but today”

There have been posts in Facebook recently where someone tags you and you have to post for 7-12 days about books, movies, or songs that inspired or moved you (there are different variations of these posts). Unfortunately, I am not the kind to post something like that everyday, because I am lazy also, I only have a handful of “things” that have moved me. 🤣🤣🤣

So I decided to just make a blog post about it. 🤣🤣🤣

Well, another reason why I want to make a post about it here is because in the facebook posts, you are not allowed to put any details why or how the picture/video you posted changed or moved you.

In my case, I want to share, why these musicals/ movies have influenced me.

First off, The Phantom of the Opera.
I cannot count how many times I have resolved to watching The Phantom of the Opera when I hit a brick wall while doing projects at school. You could say I liked the glamour of the movie but at the same time I liked the angst within the movie.

Next is, Prince of Tennis the Musicals (Tenimyu).
I didn’t watch the anime nor read the manga, but the musical I sort of followed. 😅😅😅 It was my dear friend Tessa and my sister Rei who introduced me to the musical. The songs from the musicals helped me through my college years, a year in medical school and my first few years working. I remember we even had a high grade in our Physical Education class when we used one of the songs from the musical, in addition to that, we “forced” our professor to let us use a badminton rackets instead of the usual rhythmic instruments used in dancing. I was gutsy in college. 😑😑😑 It was also because of these musicals that I had more confidence in dancing any style I want.

Lastly, Rent the Musical.
First time I heard a song from Rent (other than Seasons of Love) was in high school. It was my friend Lian who let me hear the song, Light my Candle on her Discman. But it was only in my first year of college that I heard all the songs and watched the movie. This musical changed my life. “No day, but today” was my motto for more or less six years. And in those six years, I had adventures I never thought I would experience. After a few years, I seem to have forgotten this motto. I had regrets, pain and self-doubt that I lost myself. It is only recently that I began to uplift myself.. I still have those times where my emotions devour me, but I seem to manage them better now. A few weeks ago, I heard one of the songs from Rent, One Song Glory by no other than Adam Pascal. Once again, it changed me. I listened and watched snippets of the musical and felt more motivated to continue pulling myself out of the rubble of self-pity and regret. Rent the Musical Broadway Production has officially closed in 2008, but the songs still reverberate in everyone’s hearts, most specially mine.

I also like songs from different musicals but these are my top three that really made a mark in my head in in my heart.

My family and I, we are what you would call hopeless romantics. 😅😅😅 In addition to that, we are easily overcome by our emotions. Me specifically, I can be so overwhelmed by my emotions that I actually cease to function. Of course after watching and listening to these productions, I feel more motivated and refreshed, to move on and face my impending struggles.

I will try my best to live my life with content, happiness and appreciation with these songs from productions that will always inspire me. And I end my post with my favorite line from Rent, “Forget regret, or life is yours to miss. No other road, no other way, no day but today.”

RENT the movie

i just saw this in youtube a few days ago.

the alternate ending for the movie version of Rent the Musical.

this ending was like the one from the last scene of the musical 15 or so years back*,

like a curtain call. (^_^)

the present ending and the alternate ending had their own good points.

enjoy. (^_^)

*i saw a playlist in youtube wherein the person posted the opening night of Rent the musical.

fuji-senpai's birthday celebration + sakura taisen manga

last january 27 was the 22nd birthday of fuji-senpai,

though we (kin-chan, fuji-senpai and kae) celebrated it yesterday.

we had one crack-filled afternoon/evening.

(~_~)

we were bullying each other and laughing so much...

i can't even remember why we were laughing so much.

(o^_^o)

but i do remember finally liking the song "toxic" by britney spears

because i saw a fanmade video of Masataka Nakagauchi as Niou Masaharu

and Baba Toru as Yagyuu Hiroshi with that song Toxic.

it was very well made and very very very amusing.

kin-chan found the video.

(~_~)

the food prepared by fuji-senpai uncle was quite delicious.

(~_~)

even when i was already full, i still kept on getting more servings.

(^_^)

and lastly, thanks to kae,

i was able to read a manga of sakura taisen.

(~_~)

so my saturday was just pure crack and fun.

(~_~)

with a few secrets on the side though.

LIE-R the technical side

this entry is the technical side of the latest production of Dulaang Pinay, LIE-R.

i would just want to make it clear that this is all from my point of view.

there are other views shared by ms. glecy atienza, sir bobet mendoza, cheryll brillantes and other people.

these views may have similarity to mine and they may also be different from mine.

in terms of the singing, it was a good addition to the story because it was able to give more "emotion" and "meaning" to the scenes.

the dancing, there is a need for the "dancers" to move and exaggerate their movements.

though when i said this after the first run, some were able to improve their "dancing" and that was good,

though it still needs more.

the energy of everyone was not the same, actually is was lacking at some point.

when i say energy, i was referring to "power of presentation" of the performance.

it looked as though they were unsure of what they were doing or what they were going to say.

in terms of the dialogue, as usual, it was very long.

i do not fully blame this to the cast,

because i know that there are times wherein the dialogue gets longer,

because sir bobet added something that made it long and it was not edited immediately to properly address it.

next, voice, the others were not heard because they were not able to project their voice properly.

costume, there were costumes that were fitting for some of the characters while there were some that were lacking (special mention would me the main character).

music and lights, timing and practice is still to be worked on.

though it improved a little during the second production.

set design, though they were able to fix it for the second performance, it may still need more color.

acting, some were actually into their role and but there were still those who were oblivious of their roles.

the punchlines were actually good.

the delivery of some of these punchlines are actually very good and amusing.

it's just that it is not fully maintained in the whole performance.

and lastly the plot.

like what i said before, the ending was still very problematic.

i hope they are able to fix it for their final performances tomorrow.

that's all.

yukata trio

i nice way spend the first day of the year,

1/1/11

wear a yukata with fuji-senpai and kin-chan,

eat dinner where there are different kinds of cheese served at the table

and watch tenimyu! (^_^)

around the same time last year, we were together partying. (^_^)

we love each other so much. (^_^)

happy happy times! (^_^)
------
one of the reasons fuji-senpai came today was actually Fanta. (○^_^○)

we gave her two cans so she can also brag it to a friend or two of hers. (^_^)

4 hours

this was the average number of hours i stayed with my friends since yesterday. (^_^)

last night, i went out with my "seigaku" friends to celebrate the birthday of our taka-san. (^_^)

i was with them from 7:30pm till 11:45pm. we ate at Kenny Rogers/ Seattle's Best (two different brands, one owner, one venue). this was supposed to be a birthday surprise for the celebrant but there was no specific plan so is was just go with the flow. (^_^) we talked about our work and other things/ events happening in our lives. in a way, it was a "catch-up" session. (^_^) as we were about to leave, i bought Almond Mocha Latte, which i greatly recommend. (=^_^=) then again, i love it because of its sweetness and thickness. (^_^) but if you don't have a sweet tooth, i don't think you'd enjoy it though. (^_^)

today, i went to a gathering of my high school friends, 12:30pm to 4:30pm . (^_^) i was really excited to see them. there were only a few of us though but it was alright. we had fun!! especially with the Guitar Hero (^_^) i'm a begginer and i know i will really make mistakes but i'm thankful that i never had the feeling of disappointment when i was making mistakes. i just had fun. (^_^) i guess it also helped that my friends were understanding and were simply enjoying the game as well. thanks guys, thanks ScarMid. (^_^)

after my ScarMid bonding, kin-chan and i went to fuji-senpai's house (^_^) kei arrived an hour or two after we arrived. we were there approximately 5pm till 9:15pm. fuji-senpai just got back from New Jersey a few days ago (^_^) she invited us over because we practically missed each other. (^_^) the usual LOLness, fangirling and "sabawness" of course. (>_<) the addition would be the "giving of souvenirs" or "pasalubongs" from fuji-senpai, which most come from their basement in New Jersey. (>_<) we also had dinner at her place, spaghetti with senpai's own recipe for the spaghetti sauce. (^_^)

i just realized all this as i was walking on my way home from senpai's house. (^_^)

The Wedding Singer: A Musical Comedy!

rei and i watched The Wedding Singer today! (^_^)

it was a great performance! KUDOS to the cast and the crew!

special mention to Gian Magdangal. i first saw him perform was last february during the run of Rent the Musical. compared to his previous performance, his performance tonight (last night) was far better! as i was discussing this with my sister, we figured that he has improved and the character he played in The Wedding Singer (Robbie) suits him better than the character he played in Rent (Roger).

the Ensemble never failed to amuse me, even in Rent. (^_^) love the singing, dancing, choreography, acting, everything! they appear in different scenes, in each scene a different "character." though the same actors appear over and over again, there is always something the makes one "character" different from the other "character" played by the same actor. i'm not merely talking about change of clothes. the character profile for each character for each scene was well thought of, that it really fitted the requirements that the scene demanded from the actors. excellent! (^_^)

i have to admit that when i heard that Iya Villania will play on of the female lead characters, i was uncertain because i know her as a tv personality and have never really seen her act. i know that there will always be greater pressure and responsibility when you are in theatre compared to television. i just was not sure of what to expect from her but i was glad that she was active in the theatre arts (or maybe she has been, even before. i just did not know...) i have more respect for her now, just with the mere fact that she entered theatre arts. it is a plus that she performed very well during the play. it looked natural for her and the character suits her. (^_^)

to the production committee, well done with the costumes, music and most especially the set design! (^_^)

we got home around 12mn...

all of this makes me miss performing! well, those were the days but right now, i have other things i have to do. i might be part of the theatre arts in the future but not now... not now... (^_^)

next attraction? The Nutcraker in december? (^_^) maybe?

7.18.2010

i miss you all

minna-san! how are you? (~_~)

we have been experiencing some scattered rain showers since the storm but no no great damages. maybe just a rain cloud passing by every now and then. in a way, it's good because the temperature cools down and it feels better to rest with a cool weather. (~_~)

we (with fuji-senpai, eiji-senpai, buchou and kin-chan) went to momo-senpai's house yesterday. a few awkward moments... maybe we should not have went there but i was glad we did because i missed the company of "seigaku" though fuji-senpai, kin-chan and i ended up "dancing" and "fan-girling" together in a different spot. but we were all able to bond together in the later part of our stay.

fuji-senpai and eiji-senpai went to my house afterwards for more LOL sessions XD eiji-senpai was finally able to get her cactus (~_~) as for fuji-senpai, ended up sleeping at our place because it was too late for her to go home. she had a few LOL moments with kin-chan before they went to sleep, as for me, i went to sleep before that even started their LOLness XD the next day, today, we had more fan-girling moments before fuji-senpai went home. in the later part of the day, aniki the devil, visited us. the last we saw him was two months ago and we really missed him! (~_~) as usual, we had crack moments with him and we had a "catch-up talk about our lives. (~_~)

we later went to mass. aniki was supposed to have dinner with us but it seems that there was a change of plan. truth is, i was really disappointed about the change of plans but i know that there will still be a next time. but i admit that i was REALLY disappointed. (u_u)

*moving on...

anyways, that is all for now minna-san. (~_~)

oyasumi. (^_^)

5.09.2010

saturday thing

we had another saturday meet with fuji-senpai yesterday. (~_~)

she brought pepperoni for us from her mom. (thank you tita wilma ^_^)

we had our usual fangirling stuff we did not move much because of the heat.

fuji-senpai played with the piano figuring how to play Masataka Nakagauchi's song Sing Away by ear.

she seem to have succeeded in this task of hers. (#^_^#)

despite the warm weather, we still drank tea. (~_~)

we also watched the backstage of Dream Live 6th, some clips of the backstage of Imperial Match Summer (they kept on teasing me about zukki) and some PVs of PureBoys. (#^_^#)

senpai had to leave before sundown because according to her, she'll turn to a pumpkin if she goes home late. (○^_^○)

it was a simple fun, less movement day. (^_^)

4.25.2010

book fair and dinner

hello minna-san!

we went Instituto Cervantes yesterday for the book fair! (○^_^○)

on the picture: junessa (buchou) and me, rei (kin-chan) and me.

the other members of seigaku were not able to go because they had other engagements or they were afraid of the heat (>_<)

this is one of the books we bought.

The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

he is also the author of The Shadow of the Wind, my favorite book.

the travel on our way there was fast, there were quite a lot of people on the train but it was not that uncomfortable. (^_^)

the venue was great, despite the heat, the place was rather cool and comfortable.

it looked like a patio/garden.

after the book fair, rei-chan and i went to fuji-senpai's house.

we had our usual fan-girling over tenimyu, usual "sabawness" and photo session! (#^_^#)

when we were about to eat dinner, there was a sudden black-out, so we had dinner by candlelight. (^-^)

we talked more after dinner until the electricity sprang the appliances back to life. (○^_^○)

we asked fuji-senpai to scan some of our drawings before we left.

fuji-senpai and her mom brought us home.

we had such a great day yesterday, don't you think rei?

my 100th post

my 100th post! (*^。^*)
--------------------------------------
yesterday, mama and i accompanied aylin to POEA to apply for a passport.

i also got my passport. (*^。^*)

we then passed by Robinson's Galleria and ate ice cream from McDo and we also passed by a petshop with CUTE pets waiting to be bought! (*^。^*)

come afternoon, i prepared my things for going to fuji-senpai's event and for our slumber party.

i helped finalize some things at the event of senpai.

the event got delayed because of the sudden change in arrangements due to the drizzle but the event went well.

we also danced after all the bands have played. (*^。^*)

we each had one shot of whatever hard drink mix was offered (#^.^#)

at the end of the night, i felt so bad about the one shot and i ended forgetting almost an hour before i went to sleep last night. (笑)

by the way, i received my graduation/birthday gift from fuji-senpai.

a Fanta cellphone chain. (*^。^*)

i slept over at fuji-senpai's house.

i actually don't remember what senpai and i talked about before we had our slumber (笑)

but i do remember

♠feeling bad about the one shot drink from the event

♠eating a sandwich prepared by senpai's mom and tita

♠me taking a bath

♠brushing my teeth along with senpai

♠the senpai almost going to sleep with her glasses on

♠sleeping at around 4:30am

♠scouting for my phone in darkness around 5am because it started to alarm.

other details after senpai's event, i do not remember anymore. (笑)

i woke up around 10am and i waited for senpai to wake up around 11am.

we did not have breakfast anymore, we went straight to lunch.

we then spent our afternoon watching videos of Masataka Nakagauchi and Rikkai.

my dad was also texting me weird one word questions and i was confused whether he was just making fun of me or he wanted me to go home asap.

in the end, my dad was only making fun of me. (笑)

we had another photo session before i went home around 5pm.

oh! the senpai gave me a candy cane! (*^。^*)
------------------------------------------
this had been the post with the most number of hyperlinks to multiply. (笑)

3.05.2010

updates!

hello minna-san!

i am back! (#^.^#)

from a week of no net.

updates!

last wednesday, i went to my high school friend's birthday, Lee for lunch. (*^。^*)

it was in a way, a reunion for our barkada.

sam, cooked a delicious four-course meal.

after eating, i rushed to go back to Miriam College to meet up with some members of seigaku to go to Saizen in Robinson's Galleria.

kaidoh-senpai and i window shopped while buchou and eiji-senpai bought some things. (*^。^*)

we then ate at Fridays and i showed them the magic of the super macro on the camera of buchou. (笑)

after that, i rushed back to Lee's house for dinner and we watched American Idol.

we had a mix of the Bar and Sprite while "judging" the contestants.

the alcohol took a toll as we were already laughing too much when we were watching but nobody got drunk. (#^.^#)

i went home around 10pm.

thursday, rei-chan and i read the book Pippin*.

we finished the book in one sitting.

the only reason we read it was because hiroki aiba, masataka nakagauchi, gaku shindo and kimeru were cast in the japanese adaptation of the play. (笑)

we imagined who played who and how they acted. (笑)

i admit that the story line was...

a bit flat but i believe the play was very dependent of the technicals of the play.

come evening, i watched the play Separasyon with buchou, kawamuura-senpai and aylin.

it was interesting but there were a few problems in the characterization.

i arrived late once more.

friday, today.

i attended the exit interview in my school.

kaidoh-senpai and i fixed the ppt of our thesis presentation for the CWC on monday.

after that, we (buchou, kaidoh-senpai, eiji-senpai and i) went to TriNoMa out of...

whim? (笑)

it was totally unplanned.

oh, did i mention i only had 100 pesos in my pocket? (笑)

imagine, i was able to do all of this with a VERY VERY VERY STRICT BUDGET. (笑)

we window shopped once more, looked at dresses for our graduation and ate ice cream before we all parted ways.

i waited for kuya les in TriNoMa hoping he could bring me home as i do not have money.

good thing was, he fed me. (笑)

bad thing is, he just brought me to the MRT station as he cannot bring me home.

another good thing, i already know how to go to and fro TriNoMa because kuya les just brought me to the MRT station and not home. (笑)

two good things over one negative thing.

thats ok right? (*^。^*)

anyways, i will now prepare my part of the CWC presentation.

tomorrow minna-san ~_~
----------------------------------------------------
*i borrowed this book from or library.

i do not believe there are copies of this book sold at National Bookstore or any bookstore.

i was so curious about this book, i pretended it was lost. (笑)

i had to look for a replacement but that was taken care of.

Rent the Musical

we watched Rent the musical at the Carlos P Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza Makati.

the play was amazing! (*^。^*)

i really enjoyed the show!

a bit problematic on the actor of one of the main characters but overall, it was superb!

we bought a mini poster and a souvenir book.

we asked for the autographs of some actors and took pictures with some of the cast. (*^。^*)

we also saw Micheal de Mesa, one of the actors during the first and second Rent the Musical here in the Philippines. (*^。^*)
