jazz dance

hello everyone!

sorry for the delay in my blog entries since last week. m(_ _)m

i will start of with the selpie, the musical by the 29AD, the music ministry of the couples for christ (cfc) family ministries.

this was where we performed a jazz dance.

the original run was last may, but i was not part of that production.

there was a demand for a rerun, that was the reason why i had this opportunity to dance at the musical. (^_^)

the rerun was last june 24 and 27 and the meralco theater.

i was really excited and very nervous.

i was overwhelmed by the first performance that i made a number of mistakes.

on the second performance, i was more in control of my nervousness and i seem to have impoved, even just a little, compared to the first performance. (^_~)

after the play, i bought a t-shirt as a souvenir.

i'll post it when i finally wear it. (^_^)

i'm really happy and thankful for this opportunity because i was able to meet more people from the organization that has the same passion as me. (~_~)

i hope and pray that i get the chance to perform with them once again. (^_^)

dream board

last saturday, we attended our household at ate jen's house. (^_^)

i was with aiza but she was not allowed to join our household.

anyways, before the household itself,

i took a bath and we ate dinner at ate jen's place.

for our household activity,

we made our own dream board.

mine was about performing in theater,

traveling in asian countries and learning their culture also to be able to perform them.

included in the travel is tasting the different delicacies of different countries.

also to do pilgrimage and visit different churches in our country and in nearby asian countries.

it is also my dream to be able to go to different rural areas and have interaction and exposure with them. (^_^)

and lastly, to have inner peace. (~_~)

i really enjoyed this activity.

i do pray that i may be able to fulfill my dreams and may lara and ate jen be able to fulfill their dreams. (^_^)

Gen-chan: "is this..." (resignation letter)

Teacher: "i didn't get a chance to hand it in. it's been in my bag for a year now. i realized people who keep talking about how they're going to quit usually never do. i might love kickboxing, but i'm not confident that i could make a living doing it. it's just like you said, i don't know what to do."

G: "if you're not sure, doesn't that mean that you're hanging onto what might be possible?"

-*-*-*-*-*-
when i saw this, it immediately hit me.

i saw part of myself in that teacher.

oh theater and dancing~

add to that, i love the original cast who played Angel and Collins,

namely, Wilson Jermaine Heredia and Jesse L. Martin.

their chemistry is amazing!

here are videos (1) during their opening night last 1996,

(2) during the 5th anniversary of Rent [i could not embed the video so i give you the link],

(3) during the Rent10[th anniversary],

and finally in the movie. (~_~) ♥

lorenzo and jessica

make animated gifs like this at MakeAGif

this was one of my favorite scenes from the D-Stage: Merchant of Venice. (^_^)

obviously because zukki and yanagi are my favorite actors,

and second, because i was not expecting this scene.

i know that they were one of the lovers for the play.

though i did not expect them to "kiss" for the kiss everyone was waiting for was basanio's and portia's.

seeing this really made the fangirl in me burst in delight!

add to that, i love the way jessica says lorenzo's name.

it's not "rorenzo,"

he said "Lorenzo"!

emphasis on "L"

(o^_^o)

love it!

shooting

after the wedding event,

had to rush at a classmates house for a shooting for a class video.

of course i was excited because it's been a long time since i was cast to act.

i am very thankful for victor borlaza for casting me.

it was a short role but for me,

a performance is a performance.

i sooooo miss theater!

everyone, do you know what role i was cast for?

a little girl!

hahaha! (o^_^o)

for the the third time, my role is a kid.

i really miss performing on stage.

i am really thankful because i felt the "thrill" of preparing for a production again even if it was just for a brief moment. (^_^)

Don Quixote: Ballet

yesterday, i watched Don Quixote by the Ballet Philippines with rei and our father.

in terms of dance, the ballet dancers were very good in their form and execution.

a little mistakes but that is understandable.

though i felt that the flow of the story and the plot seemed lacking.

Don Quixote de la Mancha, a novel by Miguel de Cervantes.

seemed to be better portrayed in a play than in a ballet.

this was approved by fuji-senpai and my father.

to further explain to me that the play is better than the ballet,

my father showed me a movie based from a stageplay of the said piece.

after watching, i now look forward to watching the a stageplay of Don Quixote.

hopefully it would be up to my expectations.

(~_~)
----------
along with the souvenir program,

we also bought Fanta because the venue was at the Cultural Center of the Philippines,

one of the two places where i can buy Fanta.

LIE-R the technical side

this entry is the technical side of the latest production of Dulaang Pinay, LIE-R.

i would just want to make it clear that this is all from my point of view.

there are other views shared by ms. glecy atienza, sir bobet mendoza, cheryll brillantes and other people.

these views may have similarity to mine and they may also be different from mine.

in terms of the singing, it was a good addition to the story because it was able to give more "emotion" and "meaning" to the scenes.

the dancing, there is a need for the "dancers" to move and exaggerate their movements.

though when i said this after the first run, some were able to improve their "dancing" and that was good,

though it still needs more.

the energy of everyone was not the same, actually is was lacking at some point.

when i say energy, i was referring to "power of presentation" of the performance.

it looked as though they were unsure of what they were doing or what they were going to say.

in terms of the dialogue, as usual, it was very long.

i do not fully blame this to the cast,

because i know that there are times wherein the dialogue gets longer,

because sir bobet added something that made it long and it was not edited immediately to properly address it.

next, voice, the others were not heard because they were not able to project their voice properly.

costume, there were costumes that were fitting for some of the characters while there were some that were lacking (special mention would me the main character).

music and lights, timing and practice is still to be worked on.

though it improved a little during the second production.

set design, though they were able to fix it for the second performance, it may still need more color.

acting, some were actually into their role and but there were still those who were oblivious of their roles.

the punchlines were actually good.

the delivery of some of these punchlines are actually very good and amusing.

it's just that it is not fully maintained in the whole performance.

and lastly the plot.

like what i said before, the ending was still very problematic.

i hope they are able to fix it for their final performances tomorrow.

that's all.

LIE-R personal experience

minna!

today, we (me and rei) watched two runs (well rei saw one run) of the latest play presented by Dulaang Pinay, my former theater group.

for now, the entry will be about my personal watching the play.

the entry about the technical side of the performance will be tomorrow. (~_~)

anyways, like in any performance, even during my time,

there were the usual technical, acting and discipline problems.

but i am still proud of the fact that they were still able to perform.

i know the difficulty behind making a play a day before the actual performance,

and changing the whole story of the play a few days before the performance.

though the performances i saw were still lacking,

i still appreciate the fact that some [unfortunately not all :c] were willing and open to changes after the performance.

i greatly appreciate the thinking actors, who themselves build up the character through internalization and through interaction with the other members of the group.

but like every other performance there will always be things, big and small, that needs attention.

i know the difficulty that these group is experiencing right now.

i would really want to share to them my side of the experience, but there is no time.

i hope and i pray that they will be stronger after all these.

at the end of every performance, after all the, "sana ganito ung..." and "mas maganda sana kung..."

what is important is that you were able to succeed ones expectations and be happy with the performance you have given.

it does not matter if you are a staff, a one scene make-up assistant or two-minutes dancer or the main actor! (yes i have experienced all that...)

what is important is that you did your job not to your limit but far more than your own expectations.

love and believe in what you do and say.

give it all you've got DULAANG PINAY!

bare your soul!

bare your talent!

lay out all your beliefs!

do not hold back!

GO DULAANG PINAY!

know that through good times and bad times, you will go through all these together!

know that you will always have supporters who are very excited to see you all.

(~_~)

DO YOUR VERY BEST DULAANG PINAY!

SURPASS YOUR OWN LIMITS!

(^_^)

drama of my life

walking has been part of my "life", my friends who are close to me can testify to that. i like walking for the sole reason that i am able to think about a lot of things while walking.

as i was walking home from work, i started to think about my life. what i want to happen in the future? what are my plans? i plan to take the medical aptitude test for Medicine on December but it suddenly hit me. do i plan to take up a specialization after med proper or i will just be general practitioner? if i become a general practioner, i will not be able to move forward and enhance my skills and knowledge since i won't be able to attend seminars and conventions (because seminars and conventions are usually based on a person's specialization/ department).

if i do stay in HR, i would have to pursue higher education because without it, i would not be able to move on and stay as an HR assistant. i want to evolve and be someone with a position wherein i can truly use my course. who would want to stay and be contented with just being an assistant?

i, like other people, have ambitions and i do not deny the fact that i am not contented with just being stable. call me "too proud" but i believe that i deserve more than just taking orders from other people. i know that i have to start somewhere, i accept that. but i am not going to stay in just one position. i am bound to progress, evolve and be successful.

upon reaching home, i talked to my parents about it and it made me cry. i felt that i had no direction in life and it was bothering me. in the end, i still stood by with what my father always told me, and what i tell to my friends.

"i will cross that bridge when i get there."

for now, i must focus with taking the medical aptitude test. if i get to attend med school then that's good. if i feel that i don't really fit into medicine after a year or two, i can just quit. but at least i tried. if i do not get to a med school, that's also good, at least i tried and i won't have regrets. which ever way, there will always be doors open for me. though i should also be aware that doors are not always open, they also close and i would have to decide whether or not i will enter or ignore the door of opportunity.

*****

my father: what do you really want to do?

me: what i really want to do cannot support me.

my father: what do you mean?

me: what i really want to do will not support me financially and i would not be sure if i would be able to survive that "industry"

(to self: to be able to dance and be part of the theatre industry would be my dream but to be realistic about it, i won't be able to support myself. plus, i don't have the talent. no matter how much a person works hard for something it will always be different if the person has talent for it. but i do not belittle the results of hard work because at the end of the day, everyone did thei best, it's just that, having the talent is still different.)
