How today started

I woke up at 4 o'clock in the morning, and I decided to watch "One in a Hundred Thousand" and "Ride Your Wave."
Photos credit from their respective Wikipedia pages

What a way to start my day.

PS.
Shirahama Alan played the role of the male protagonist in One in a Hundred Thousand, while Katayose Ryota voiced the male protagonist for Ride your Wave. Both actors are members of the group Generations from Exile Tribe.

It was their group, Generations from Exile Tribe, who sang the theme song for both movies - Star Travelling (One in a Hundred Thousand) and Brand New Story (Ride Your Wave) respectively.

Any GENE fans out there? (~_^)

“No day, but today”

There have been posts in Facebook recently where someone tags you and you have to post for 7-12 days about books, movies, or songs that inspired or moved you (there are different variations of these posts). Unfortunately, I am not the kind to post something like that everyday, because I am lazy also, I only have a handful of “things” that have moved me. 🤣🤣🤣

So I decided to just make a blog post about it. 🤣🤣🤣

Well, another reason why I want to make a post about it here is because in the facebook posts, you are not allowed to put any details why or how the picture/video you posted changed or moved you.

In my case, I want to share, why these musicals/ movies have influenced me.

First off, The Phantom of the Opera.
I cannot count how many times I have resolved to watching The Phantom of the Opera when I hit a brick wall while doing projects at school. You could say I liked the glamour of the movie but at the same time I liked the angst within the movie.

Next is, Prince of Tennis the Musicals (Tenimyu).
I didn’t watch the anime nor read the manga, but the musical I sort of followed. 😅😅😅 It was my dear friend Tessa and my sister Rei who introduced me to the musical. The songs from the musicals helped me through my college years, a year in medical school and my first few years working. I remember we even had a high grade in our Physical Education class when we used one of the songs from the musical, in addition to that, we “forced” our professor to let us use a badminton rackets instead of the usual rhythmic instruments used in dancing. I was gutsy in college. 😑😑😑 It was also because of these musicals that I had more confidence in dancing any style I want.

Lastly, Rent the Musical.
First time I heard a song from Rent (other than Seasons of Love) was in high school. It was my friend Lian who let me hear the song, Light my Candle on her Discman. But it was only in my first year of college that I heard all the songs and watched the movie. This musical changed my life. “No day, but today” was my motto for more or less six years. And in those six years, I had adventures I never thought I would experience. After a few years, I seem to have forgotten this motto. I had regrets, pain and self-doubt that I lost myself. It is only recently that I began to uplift myself.. I still have those times where my emotions devour me, but I seem to manage them better now. A few weeks ago, I heard one of the songs from Rent, One Song Glory by no other than Adam Pascal. Once again, it changed me. I listened and watched snippets of the musical and felt more motivated to continue pulling myself out of the rubble of self-pity and regret. Rent the Musical Broadway Production has officially closed in 2008, but the songs still reverberate in everyone’s hearts, most specially mine.

I also like songs from different musicals but these are my top three that really made a mark in my head in in my heart.

My family and I, we are what you would call hopeless romantics. 😅😅😅 In addition to that, we are easily overcome by our emotions. Me specifically, I can be so overwhelmed by my emotions that I actually cease to function. Of course after watching and listening to these productions, I feel more motivated and refreshed, to move on and face my impending struggles.

I will try my best to live my life with content, happiness and appreciation with these songs from productions that will always inspire me. And I end my post with my favorite line from Rent, “Forget regret, or life is yours to miss. No other road, no other way, no day but today.”

family/ movie day

sunday is always family day.

as much as possible, we would stay at home or do things with the whole family.

this sunday, we went out for a family lunch then we watched the movies we liked.

papa, mama and ryo watched the movie Brave.

while rei and i watched Sadako 3D.

the reason for watching the movie was pretty obvious,

Seto Koji (^_^) and Yamamoto Yosuke.

i wont deny that we were feeling a little arrogant while inside the theater.

hontou ni gomenasai! m(_ _)m

i'll cover you

this is one of my favorite songs from Rent the Musical. (^_^)

add to that, i love the original cast who played Angel and Collins,

namely, Wilson Jermaine Heredia and Jesse L. Martin.

their chemistry is amazing!

here are videos (1) during their opening night last 1996,

(2) during the 5th anniversary of Rent [i could not embed the video so i give you the link],

(3) during the Rent10[th anniversary],

and finally in the movie. (~_~) ♥

RENT the movie

i just saw this in youtube a few days ago.

the alternate ending for the movie version of Rent the Musical.

this ending was like the one from the last scene of the musical 15 or so years back*,

like a curtain call. (^_^)

the present ending and the alternate ending had their own good points.

enjoy. (^_^)

*i saw a playlist in youtube wherein the person posted the opening night of Rent the musical.

it's very light movie.

eiga sai 2011

last weekend, i spent it watching japanese movies for free. (^_^)

Eiga Sai is a yearly film festival to celebrate Japan - Philippines Friendship Month.

this year i was invited by my high school friend karura. (^_^)

last saturday, we watched the movie One Million Yen Girl along with her boyfriend and another friend of hers.

come evening of the same day,

rei and i watched the oscar-awarded movie Departures (Okuribito).

the next day, sunday, rei and i went to mass early because we were planning to watch another movie.

the movie we watched yesterday was Feel the Wind.

the primary reason why i wanted to watch it is because i found out that two of the d-boys members (nakamura yuichi and igarashi shunji) were in the movie (^_^)

in the end, i did not regret it.

i love the movie!

some would say it had a typical plot but the way it was presented in the movie gave me a feel good feeling. (^_^)

it was really inspiring and friendship really makes a lot of things possible. (^_^)

this was my first time to attend the eiga sai even though i was already aware of it so many years ago.

though it was my first time, i seem to have took advantage of it as i watch three movies in two days. (^_^)

hopefully i still get to watch next year. (~_^)

on a totally different note,

this was my sunday outfit, the same outfit i used when we watched eiga sai. (^_^)

visit from momo-senpai and a late night movie

had a surprise visit yesterday from momo-senpai (^_~)

we had a chat and we also called eiji-senpai hoping she could come oever.

unfortunately, she could not go.

anyways, come evening,

out of whim,

we (me, momo-senpai, rei and ryo) decided to watch the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

it was the first day of screening so we immediately reserved tickets because we knew that there would be a lot of people.

when we arrived at the cinema,

as expected it was a full house.

i haven't really watched the previous installments of the movie,

but i knew a little background about the characters and the previous installments.

anyways,

i really really enjoyed the movie! (^_^)

RPG Metanoia

good morning minna-san! (^_^)

yesterday was the start of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

this is an annual film festival of Filipino films starting every 25 of december until a certain date in january (i forgot when)

m(_ _)m gomen~

anyways, we watched the movie RPG Metanoia. (may take time to load)

it is the first full-length 3D animation done here in the Philippines.

the story: kids who love to play RPG.

a "virus" was spreading in the online game itself and it has affected not only the avatar and the network but also the users themselves (they seem to be hypnotized to continue playing the game).

the boys put it upon themselves to save the users of the games.

in the end, they became the saviors of the online gaming world.

in terms of graphics, it was very good.

considering that this was the very first movie and the fact it took approximately 5 years to finish, i think the graphics and movements of the characters were clear.

though it still needs more work, i was impressed by graphics of the "game scenes"

the story was fairly built up.

it was easy to follow how the events were progressing and there was a good build up of how the conflict escalated.

unfortunately, i feel torn about the resolution of the story was good or not.

it was simple, maybe to balance the too much action of the whole movie.

but maybe it was just too simple.

i am not sure.

the scenes are very much familiar if not common to most if not all the young generations of the philippines.

i liked the part wherein they incorporated filipino values and filipino folklore in the avatars and the whole story itself.

in general, i really enjoyed watching it. (^_^)

food trip!

this was not supposed to be a day where i indulge myself with lots of food but who am i to say no to food right?

food is food.

food is grace. (^_^)

anyways, when i was about to leave and visit some of my former officemates, my mother arrived with Strawberry Frappe from Starbucks.

since it was for me, i just brought it with me when i left.

when i reached my former office, khiara gave me chips. (^_^)

so far, i have received two different servings of "food"

i then went to my former school to get and pass some documents.

unfortunately, the documents i was supposed to get were not ready yet so i have to go back tomorrow.

though i was able to pass the documents i needed to pass.

i met up with rei since her last class was cancelled.

on the spot, she decided to eat frozen yogurt.

i told her to pay for my share.

third, "food" i had for the afternoon.

on our way home, rei kept on bugging me about this 50% discount on ramen at this new japanese restaurant near our place.

at first i told her we can just go tomorrow.

but for some reason, she was able to persuade me to go today.

rei had yakiniku ramen and i had seafood ramen.

while we were waiting for our orders, i told her let's play the batsu game and the loser will pay for the food.

we did two sets, best of three in each set...

result?

i lost. (TwT)

so i payed for our meal.

this reminded of our a scene from the movie A-symmetry (masato wada and araki hirofumi)

(○^_^○)

when we arrived home, we did not eat dinner anymore. (^_^)

in just one afternoon, four different servings of food!

(-_-")

Go! Go! G-boys

warning! this is a BL themed movie!

rei and i watched the movie Go! Go! G-Boys last tuesday.

since it started very wacky, i thought it would be like that for the whole movie.

but as the story progressed, the drama and the seriousness started to blossom.

we have not finished the movie but i was already telling rei that i love the movie and it was a "classic" in my virtual collections of BL favorites.

by the end of the movie, i could not stop saying

"nakakalig... touching... i love it... "

♥ (^_^) ♥

hair craze + "ahem" + owlz

minna!!! how are you? been a long time ne? (○^_^○)

my first update would be about my hair. XD

it seems that for two consecutive weekends, i have been "playing" around with my hair (with rei of course XD) i guess we got tired of our hair being always down with the lack of any movement whatsoever. and so to make up for that, the results (1,2,3). XD

next on the update is...

what i have been doing in the past week? hhmm... i guess i'll leave part of that to rei?

moving on...

last friday was the opening of the movie Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole. i reserved tickets for the 3D viewing for that evening. In terms of the technicals and the visuals, i really enjoyed it. as for the plot, the first thing i said to my mom and my siblings was that the plot was not good as i expected it to be and the pacing was fast. when i searched more details about it, i guess some of the reviews said the same thing.

it actually made me think maybe i am too old for this stuff? i guess the movie was really for kids, but still i expected better from the movie. but no doubt i enjoyed it (^_^)

fave character: Digger ♥
