Death/ Pandemic/ Suicide

Warning: this post may be sensitive and depressing. I would not blame you if you decide not to read it.

Statistically, someone dies everyday. Though nobody really had interest in it until now, during the pandemic.

I myself experience death in the family during the pandemic. My grandfather didn’t die because if the virus, he died because of complications in his health. We were already expecting his death, so in a way, we were emotional prepared for it. What we did not prepare for though is the burden of not being able to give him a proper send-off ceremony.

I guess it’s almost the same, but not quite, with the family members of those who were infected by the virus. The family members see death, and they know it will come to that, but they cannot be by their love one’s side on their last breath.  Though there are those who survive, there are those who have succumbed to death, alone, on the bed, with no love ones beside them.

What we don’t see in the statistics of death right now are those who commit suicide. Recently, there is news about the Japanese actor Miura Haruma who allegedly committed suicide. Reports say it may be drug related. Personally, suicide is a sensitive topic, not because I am scared of it, it’s because I have attempted it. I haven’t really been open about it to anyone, except a handful of people. Though I still have the urge once in a while, I have been more conscious of how to deal with it. Unfortunately, my way of dealing with it may be different with the way other deals with it.

Suicide is still taboo for most cultures around the world and I am afraid there might be an increase in suicide cases during the pandemic and most will just ignore it.

Due to the physical distancing, people feel more isolated. Based from experience, isolation is the worst environment for those who have suicidal thoughts. Others would say “It’s him/her who wants to be isolated. They don’t even want to talk when we try to talk to them.” The truth is, we want to talk but we also have that thought inside of us that we don’t want to burden other people with our own baggage. Believe me, it’s a whirlwind of emotions inside of us. So much that we become speechless and we simply have no words for it. We like the company, just don’t force us to talk. We will eventually talk, when we feel we have the strength to do it.

The pandemic has limited everyone’s resources and those who are greatly affected by this are those who are low-income earners. There are more people in the streets right now begging for food and money just to survive. I hope this doesn’t happen, but it is not impossible, if they cannot provide anything for their family anymore, they will end their life. It’s a far-fetched idea, but it is not impossible. Desperation wrecks your mind in a whole new level.

I know I cannot do much right now. I try to help every now and then but I too have my own struggles, financially. Prayers are most that I can give for everyone, specially those who are greatly struggling, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Other than death about about by the pandemic, this may even be the death of the human psyche.

fame: the power and cost of a fantasy

i saw this article when it was posted by a former college professor of mine on his blog.

what caught my attention was the fact that the one who wrote the article was sue erikson bloland,

the daughter of erik erikson who is a prominent figure in the psychology field.

there were details that really amazed me and the article was really interesting.

it's very long but it is definitely worth it. (^_^)

graduation pictures

hehehehe, sharing ~_~

my graduation pictures when i graduated from preparatory school, grade school, high school and college.

fuji-senpai: "you didn't grow an inch." (jokingly)

me: (-_-) thanks senpai.

looking back: college

got my transcript of records last monday.

as i was looking through my grades, i realized that my grades during the first semester of first year college were quite high.

maybe it was because it was a clean slate for me.

i wanted a different me from the high school me.

unfortunately, i was not able to sustain high grades.

i was not failing but i had lower grades during my second to third year compared to my first year in college.

this may also be due to me being part of a theater organization (but i do not regret this ^_^), me being lazy and lacking motivation.

come fourth year college, i was so pressured because it was my last year in college and i had to force myself to study because i was laking the motivation.

the first semester was quite hard as seen in my low grades but the second semester seemed fair and challenging but i was able to pull through (my grades were higher compared to the previous semester). (^_^)

but looking back, i believe i really enjoyed my college life. (○^_^○)

i met different people and i had friends whom i can depend on.

i discovered my strengths and weaknesses.

i knew a part of myself better. (^_^)

i had my ups and my downs! (#^_^#)

a real roller coaster ride!

now!

i will face the real world.

WORK!

~_~

4.22.2010

JOB!

yes! i officially have a job! (#^_^#)

i did very well during my interview and i am very proud of myself. (^_^)

the only problem was my availability.

i would be available for work on the 16th of june but the company needed immediate hiring, work as soon as possible.

that company asked me to think about working earlier than june 16, i said i will think about it.

those who interviewed me was also considering if they can wait until the 16th of june, they said they will talk to their superiors about it.

after a few hours, i got a call from them saying that my application was accepted and that the company was willing to hire me on the 16th of june.

i was very amazed!

i thought that since june 16 was too late for them, they would just look for other applicants but i was wrong and i would say that i am very proud of myself. (^w^)

i will do my best in work! (○^_^○)

despite what i said before (previous blog), i realized i want to work for the experience.

well, maybe also for the money, but the pay is not that high.

what would i lose if i try right?

i mean, i will only turn 20 years old next week, i'm still young, one year working experience won't hurt right? (~_~)
---------------------------------------
i payed the phone bill today and on my way home i passed by the grocery store.

i was looking for Fanta but it seems that they do not sell in anymore, then this caught my attention.

maybe i should try it some time?

i also bought a headset for my phone, in a way, it's my gift to myself. (~_~)

till next time minna-san.

a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Psychology!

i am officially a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Psychology! (#^.^#)

i have been busy since the recognition ceremony.

well, one of the reasons was because the day of our recognition day was the graduation day of my sister rei.

after our recognition ceremony, i rushed to Kostka School Katipunan to attend the graduation ceremony of my sister. (*^。^*)

i had to leave seigaku cause they had other plans that afternoon. (*^。^*)

when i arrived at Kostka School Katipunan, i climbed 4 floors to reach their gym which is the venue of the graduation.

please be reminded that i was wearing a short black dress and i was in high heels. ~_~

when i arrived at the top floor, the graduates were having a break before the graduation ceremony.

when i finally saw my parents, the first thing they said to me was,

"did you buy water? did you buy flowers for your sister?"

i was lost for words. (*^。^*)

i was so tired and this was what i get? (笑)

i made a short drama but i was smiling. (*^。^*)

i did not mind doing the errands since it was for my sister who was graduating. (*^。^*)

what i cursed was the fact that i was walking along Katipunan Road doing the errands in a black, short and warm dress and high-heeled closed shoes. (笑)

when i arrived at Kostka, i was surprised to see that the graduation ceremony is done and i did not see my sister march on the stage when her name was called.

i was heart broken.

but after a minute, i moved on. (笑)

i congratulated her, gave her the bouquet and took pictures with her. (*^。^*)

we had a nice and simple dinner that night. (*^。^*)

come friday, i was editing videos for my sister and my father the whole day.

evening, i was looking for a dress for the baccalaureate mass for the next morning.

saturday morning was our baccalaureate mass and in the afternoon/evening was the graduation ceremony.

i was so excited cause it was the day of my graduation! (笑)

i must be full of energy and i was so jolly that i played with my hair using the hair iron of fuji-senpai. (笑)

i was supposed to just iron it straight for the graduation ceremony but i experimented with it. (笑)

in the end, my hair was curled at the ends for the graduation ceremony. (笑)

i was proud of the fact that it was an experiment that i kept on telling it to other people. (笑)

anyways, during the actual graduation ceremony, it was so hot.

it was a good thing that our senior council prepared fans and water for us.

it's a good thing the graduation dress my grandmother made
was quite light despite the warm toga we were wearing. (*^。^*)

anyways, the graduation ceremony went well. (*^。^*)

i made a mistake during the ceremony but i did not care for i was already holding on to my diploma! (笑)

after the ceremony, seigaku had a photo shoot.

i then had to rush home for our graduation dinner.

we only had a few guests but i was glad that those who came were those who, i would say, i was comfortable and close to. (*^。^*)

my guests were actually fuji-senpai and her family.

the other guests were relatives from papa's side and mama's side and of course, kuya les and jerome. (*^。^*)

fuji-senpai gave me and rei gifts, but before that she had a short speech and she made me cry.

i was so touched by her gift and her speech. ~_~

we all had a delicious dinner and as usual, we made fangirling stuff. (笑)

it all ended around 11pm and i was so tired that i literally had to force myself to take a bath before going to sleep. (笑)

but in the end, i was so glad that i finally graduated! ~_~

photos to be uploaded in my multiply site tomorrow. ~_~

final practice

yesterday was the final day of practice for graduation. ~_~

we had our departmental pictorial in the morning.

we wore our toga for the pictorial in the morning and during the practices in the afternoon, for us to get used to wearing them while marching.

in a way, the heat we felt while practicing yesterday was a trail of the heat we will experience on saturday, the GRADUATION DAY! (*^。^*)

later will be our recognition day and the graduation of my sister, rei-chan ~_~
--------------------------------------------------------------
on a random note, i took a picture of a tree with flowers in full bloom despite the very hot temperature here in the Philippines.

it was on the very "exposed to the sunlight" part of our school grounds and it was hard to miss because the flowers were yellow. ~_~

you could see the brown, dry land as proof of the lack of rain during this very HOT season. (*^。^*)

later minna-san ~_~

3.23.2010

graduation practice

our graduation practice has started yesterday and it lasts until tomorrow.

we have been practicing for our recognition ceremony, baccalaureate mass and for the graduation ceremony complete with our toga and 2 inch shoes.

the recognition ceremony is on thursday, march 25, which is also the graduation day of my sister rei. (*^。^*)

on the 27 of march, saturday is my baccalaureate mass and the graduation ceremony.

we have been practicing the songs for our baccalaureate mass.

it makes me feel good that i am very familiar with the church songs. (*^。^*)

all our practices are in the afternoon.

for the venue of our baccalaureate mass, it is in the Marian Auditorium.

for the venue of our graduation ceremony, it is in the High School Covered Court, the very same venue during my high school graduation.

tomorrow, we will have our departmental pictorial in the morning and we will continue our practice in the morning.

that's all for now.

i'm tired.

oyasumi. ~_~
-----------------------------------------------------------
papa is now out of the hospital. ~_~

we fetched papa from the hospital this morning.

3.21.2010

my drama

i have a headache. (TwT)

anyways, i'm forcing myself to blog because i feel depressed recently and because i feel bad when i do not get to blog. (笑)

updates since friday.

seigaku went to Eastwood, Libis last friday to have a graduation celebration.

(they easily got tired walking, but i was still craving for more walking.)

unfortunately, fuji-senpai was not there.

(which i very much regret. TwT)

i had fun in general but the feeling felt so temporary.

we walked around, ate pasta, drank coffee and ate blueberry cheesecake.

oh, i bought a white feather! (*^。^*)

i really love this!

saturday, i attended the recognition ceremony of the Psychology Department of Miriam College.

i was proud and pleased to hear the awards given to my fellow coursemates and was more proud when we were recognized for presenting our thesis in two conventions.

i don't have much pictures.

after the event, i passed by fuji-senpai's house and we had a heart-to-heart talk.

well, it was kind of one-sided as i was the one pouring my heart out. (笑)

after the talk, fuji-senpai described my face with this icon.

(TwT)

please expect this in some of my blogs. (笑)

thank you fuji-senpai. (*^。^*)

when i arrived home, rei-chan was the only one awake and at home.

ryo-chan and mama stayed at the hospital to take care of papa.

we watched two episodes of Here is Greenwood. (*^。^*)

we were amused once more by the slight shonen and the funny actors. (笑)

we slept around 2am. (笑)

we were forced to wake up around 6am today to go to mass around 6:30 am. (笑)

talking about EFFORT!

oh, i left the computer on the whole night because i was downloading DD-Boys Episode Four!

so when i woke up, the download was done. (*^。^*)

rei-chan and i went to mass then watched the download when we arrived home.

oh zukki ♥

we then went to the hospital to spend our day with papa.

we came home around 8pm because i really have a bad headache.
--------------------------------------------------------
oh, my aunt arrived from Thailand and gave us Toblerone ♥

i ♥ chocolates. ~_~

for now, oyasumi minna-san ~_~

3.10.2010

i will graduate!

i went to school today to finish the problem with my clearance.

i predicted i'd stay for 45 minutes.

i was wrong.

i stayed for only 32 minutes and 2 seconds. (笑)

i timed myself.

anyways, when i finished the problem with the clearance, i finally got to see my grades.

surprisingly, i got higher grades than what i expected. (笑)

i am very thankful and i am now proud to say that i will graduate! (#^.^#)

3.08.2010

Consortium of Women’s Colleges Research Forum in Psychology

just arrived from our thesis presentation for the 4th Consortium of Women’s Colleges Research Forum in Psychology held at St. Scholastica's College.

the host school this year is St. Scholastica's College and the participating school was Assumption College and Miriam College.

we presented our thesis once more. (*^。^*)

everything turned out very well.

we were late because we were caught in traffic but we were able to arrive just in time for the opening prayer.

i would say that we did very well in the presentation and during the question and answer portion. (*^。^*)

we were also given certificates. (*^。^*)

in general, i am proud of myself and my groupmates. (#^.^#)

IKE! SEIGAKU*!

IKE! MIRIAM COLLEGE!

*was referring to thesis groupmates (#^.^#)

2.28.2010

fifth of the last seven days

i was, once again, late for my rizal class. (+。+)

its a good thing that i as able to finish the exam on time.

i did fair...

i think... (笑)

i did not do bad, but i did not do good either. (笑)

after the exam, we ate and then went to UP Diliman Palma Hall Annex to present our thesis at the 4th Psynergy/ Pambansang Samahan sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino.

inui-senpai and oishi-senpai were the ones who presented our thesis,

while me ad kaidoh-senpai were the assistants.

among the presenters, i believe that the best one was the presentation of inui-senpai and oishi-senpai. (*^。^*)

we were given our certificates after all the presentations. (*^。^*)

2.18.2010

february 17

just woke up...

yesterday was an interesting day.

1) we made a paper flower and paper hearts. ♥^_^

2) we presented during our filipino class and my character was one of my favorite princesses of Disney, Ariel. ^_^

3) we interviewed the sensei of momo-senpai about resiliency and hope for one of our current issues class (she is handicapped).

i learned a lot from her experience considering that she has been handicapped since she was a child.

4) i attended mass because it was Ash Wednesday.

i have been thinking what i must abstain from this lenten season?

5) lastly, we found out that we will present our thesis in not one but two forums.

the first one will during the Pambansang Samahan ng Sikolohiyang Pilipino Forum on February 27 at UP Diliman.

the second will be during the Consortium of Women Colleges Forum on March 8 at St. Scholastica's College Manila.

i am excited but scared because this is the first time that i/ we will present our thesis/research in public. ~_~
----------------------------------------------------------
minna?

do you remember my post last february 14 about me going out with a friend, Ron?

we have been texting each other since sunday.

last night, he finally admitted that he liked me. ~_~

i already knew that but i was waiting for him to "own that feeling" and finally have the courage to say it.

well, so far, we are friends and i told that to him. ~_~
----------------------------------------------------------
oh! before i forget, yesterday was the 26th birthday of Kamakari Kenta (Hyotei 1). ^_^

kin-chan bought brownies to celebrate the occasion. ~_~

-----------------------------------------------------------
i will now cram for my exam today. (>_<)

later minna-san~

2.09.2010

raffle + bingo + career talk

i attended two career talks yesterday.

one organized by JPMAP the other organized by the Psychology department.

i also attended a bingo and raffle draw organized by the JPMAP but i never won a thing. T_T

i believe maxine took pity on me and gave me her prize instead. ^_^

1.29.2010

before quiz

we had to take a quiz in philippine constitution class (saturday class) last wednesday because we will be going to the team building seminar of the psychology department on saturday. =_=

we were so lazy and there were already too much information in our heads.

eiji-senpai and i took pictures before the exam.

we even exchanged glasses out of... stress? O_o!?!

in the end...

the test was difficult! x_x

but we are glad that we were able to answer it...

at some point. ○^_^○
