Joseph, foster father of Jesus
The gospel last night was about St Joseph, the foster father of Jesus. Not much is said in the bible about St Joseph, though we learn from his short description from him, of the traits we should learn from him being a servant of God.

to know how to do it, is knowledge,
to take action and doing it is service."

Feast of the Holy Family
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience,
forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

missionary
we are all called to me missionaries.
we can be missionaries in our own ways.
it's a matter of dedication, sincerity, simplicity and sacrifice.
easier said than done right?
specially during this time when almost all people seems so materialistic.
it's not wrong to have things,
we should just be wary that we must not be too attached with them.
this reminds me of snufkin from the moomins.
as much as possible, he has few possessions because he sees them as a burden that ties you down
he prefers keeping the memory of the object rather than the object itself.
i know this is not something new or uncommon to hear.
the questions is, are we doing anything that makes us a missionary in our daily lives?
or do we simply take it for granted because like what i said earlier,
it's nothing new and uncommon.

familiarity
the homily during the mass last sunday left me thinking...
"ones you are familiar with a person,
you see both their good and bad sides."
a no-brainer right? common sense logic.
what really caught my attention was when he said the reason why teenagers are rebellious sometimes is because they have been too familiar and too comfortable with their parents,
and vice versa.
they know the weakness and strengths of each other.
there is that feeling of too much equality that respect is already lost in the process.
i'm sorry i am not good with words and i can't explain it well,
but i'm sure if you all heard the priest that day,
you would all understand it better.
having too much familiarity can easily cloud judgement.
this not only applies in legal cases, or in school, or in other public places.
it is also very well evident in our homes, with our families.
how come parents immediately get angry at their teens even before the teens could explain themselves?
because the parents have been too familiar with their teens that they think they already know the reason why the children did such an act.
the same with a teen who does thinks behind the parents,
because they are already familiar wit how the parents would react if they knew what the teens were doing.
as you can see, poor judgement and misunderstanding creates chaos and anxiety between family members.

we just have to learn to keep a little something for our-self." (^_^)

michael angelo f. lobrin
during mass, there was a small promotional talk by michael angelo f. lobrin about his book titled "laugh with God today."
he was very witty and he had a way with words that made us all laugh.
he was a great speaker which i think is why a lot of people bought his book after the mass.
we were lucky enough to get his autograph and to have a photograph with him. (^_^)

pants for today! (^_^)
top: blue blouse was altered from a long sleeved polo (for male) to be a short-sleeved blouse (for female), black tube top was given by an aunt.
pants: floral pants from an uncle.
shoes: school shoes bought last june 2011.
watch: a graduation gift from fuji-senpai last 2010
necklace: a combination of my silver cross, a black ornament from my cousin and a metal chain from my sister, rei.

hello everyone.
this is already a late post but i'll do it anyway.
this was today's sunday outfit.
the dress was bought a few years back at an ukay-ukay (a place where they sell second hand things)
the belt was from our aunt.
shoes are school shoes.
on a side note,
me and my siblings,
we were all wearing pink for the mass.
i'm not sure if they merely copied me or they really had planned to use pink before hand?

all my life,
i have been studying in a catholic all-girls school.
from holy spirit school to miriam college.
one of the things i loved while staying in these schools were the songs during mass.
truth is, these songs have comforted me during my times of depression and it has memories that will forever be in my heart. ♥

luke 8: 4-15
"While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”
When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,
“‘though seeing, they may not see;
though hearing, they may not understand.'
“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop."

footprints on the sand
One night I dreamed a dream.
I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord.
When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.
"Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I need You most, You leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

it has been a year
last january 2, 2011 marked the first year since our accident.

i decided to make a separate entry for this just to remember the occasion.
i am very thankful that i am still alive a year after the accident. (^_^)
i am very thankful of the "third chance" given to me.
and i pray for the safety of my family and the more opportunities i had and will have just because i am alive. (^_^)

from the sunday mass
when the priest was doing the homily earlier, i did not really like the way he was doing it.
he made it sound that going to mass nowadays is becoming a habit rather than a devotion or a preparation for the celebration for the birth of christ.
the homily was revolving around this idea.
maybe for me, it sounded as though he was generalizing that is why i did not like it.
but despite my annoyance for this priest's way of homily, i was able to get and understand a part of his homily that would really define christmas for me.
these were not his exact words but merely the gist of it.
"christmas is swallowing my pride, knowing the people who are eating with me on the table, repenting for my sins and renewing my way of living"
simple but it hit me because i admit, it was "close to home"
he made it sound that going to mass nowadays is becoming a habit rather than a devotion or a preparation for the celebration for the birth of christ.

we are laptops
an excerpt from the homily during mass:
we are created by God. we are like laptops with creators. pero tulad ng mga laptop, pag tumatagal nagkaka-virus. kaya kailangan ng anti-virus. we too need an "anti-virus" because we are sometimes affected by the "virus" around us. the longer we live, the more we are exposed to the "virus."
