From Old New Laptop to a New Hand-Me-Down Laptop

December 13, 2021

The official day that let go of my old new laptop (check the link) and got a new laptop. But I have to be clear about my new laptop. It's new in the sense that I am the new owner, the former owner is my father. Yes, it is a hand-me-down laptop, but it has better specs than my previous laptop. 👌 I even upgraded it to Windows 11. 😏 I don't mind getting second-hand items as long as they can still be used and are decent. 👍 At the end of the day, as long as I have something I can use, I am already thankful. 🙏

My sister had to reboot it though as my father accidentally deleted a system file when he deleted all his previous files. Overall I am grateful for blessings like these. It's not the "best gift" for other people but for me, it is enough.

I am thankful. I am blessed. 😊

New Old Laptop

I mentioned this in my update from last month.

So here it is.

One of our former tenants left an old laptop (no battery though) and an old monitor. It was dusty and moldy, so I wiped it clean with alcohol. I tried to look for the power supply for both gadgets, but I only found the power supply of the laptop. Unfortunately, the power supply was out of commission.

So, I decided to gamble. I bought a power supply online. When the new power supply arrived, I immediately tried it with the laptop. The good news is, it turned on. The bad news is, the keyboard does not work.

Once again, I gambled. I brought the laptop to a repair shop. Anxiety settled in as I was trying to describe to the technician about the gadget. Honestly, I was afraid that changing the keyboard would be a burden on my budget.

Luckily, I was able to get it fixed within the budget. I am using it as of writing. The laptop has been with me for a month now. Despite it being basic, bulky, and old, I like the functionality of it. Also, the brand is a trusted brand in terms of durability.

My father searched the internet for the same model of laptop. I found out someone is selling the same model for double the price I spent. It was a good gamble.

And that is how I now have an old, new laptop. Yey! 😃😃😃

Updates (October 2020)

This post is delayed, but better late than never.

October went by pretty fast. I guess because I had several things I was looking forward to and was happy to witness.

In the first week of the month, I was generally happy as it was the birthday of Japanese artists that I admire. One of those artists is Suzuki Hiroki from D-boys, who celebrated his birthday last October 3. I have been following him since his Tenimyu days, and he has grown as an actor, and I look up to him.

Another thing I was looking forward to was the possibility of having a laptop. In the end, I did get it, and I will be making a post about it in the future. And we also have a functioning speaker that we got from another tenant who left. To sum it up, we were able to obtain gadgets for free or somewhat lower in price as compared to it's actual market price.

I continue posting photographs on my Instagram and my Twitter. Like what I said before, I am trying to hone my photography skills, but with a little twist. The camera I am using is my camera phone. I am using a Samsung Folder 2, and a second hand one at that. The camera is below par compared to the latest phones, but that's the beauty of it. I can only work with what I have. That is the real challenge.

I am still struggling with my routine (see my previous updates). But I am trying my best to follow it.

There are new songs and videos that I have added to my playlist. These are those that moved me or has struck some heartstrings. I might share them in the future.

The real highlight of this month is my sister Rei's birthday. Though she didn't prepare a feast, just planning it was hilarious, and it made me feel giddy.

A snippet of my birthday greeting to my sister on Facebook

In general, the month was relatively feel good as compared to the previous months.

I would say it was a good, happy month.

january 2 update

minna-san!

how are you all?

there have been a lot of things happening which has kept me busy since sunday.

anyways, first of all, my parents bought a laptop fro me last sunday but i cannot use it yet because it still has to be installed with windows 7, ms office and an anti virus.

so right now, it is merely a unit.

this was the source of my frustration (referring to previous blog).

second on my list of updates!

last sunday, ryo and i watched a sea lion and dolphin show.

to tell you all the truth, half of me likes the show and the other half despised it.

i really did enjoy the show, i even have the blurry pictures.

but i don't like the fact that i know that these animals are treated as such.

i've heard of news about animals being maltreated for such entertainments

but knowing that the National Geographic is one of the sponsors of the show we watched,

it makes me think... (-_- )?
