Reactivated my FB, but only for commerce purposes

It has been more than a month since I temporarily deactivated my Facebook account.

I don't miss it.

It may have even been for the better. I am thinking about permanently deactivating my account. But I was discerning I might still be needing it for commerce purposes. So I decided to reactivate it, keep it there, but only use it for selling things.

So Facebook friends, my account is back but don't expect me to be active in it.

Toodles.

Why I am changing the details of my social media accounts

Social media is a great instrument to connect with loved ones, friends and even reconnect with forgotten friendships. We also use social media to share learning, promote and look back at past memories.

Though this has been a big help in making people closer together, social media has also been used as an instrument to scam and take advantage of other people.

With everything accessible on the internet right now, it has become easier to obtain information that may be used against an individual. We cannot deny that even though we have privacy settings, with the right programs and in-depth research on a person, private information can be leaked.

We should also be aware of the information we share on social media - especially when it involves family information, money, and investment.

I temporarily deactivated my Facebook account because someone who is closely related to me shared information on social media that may endanger my family and me. Though it was only available for 24 hours, we do not know who viewed the information.

Yes, I may seem paranoid, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

I am currently changing the details of all my social media accounts.

Everyone, please be safe both from the virus and from people who might take advantage of you, especially in this time of need. People have become desperate to do anything just to survive.

Everyone, please keep safe.

between me and kagi

*note: kagi and i have been friends since high school. recently, she closed/ deleted most of her social media accounts except twitter. as for her blog, she still has it because she said that's one thing she can't let go. (^_~)

anyways, this letter is for her. why do it as a post on my blog? because she said she finds my informality, lack of technique and rawness very entertaining. (>_<) also, it's because this is our only way of communicating to each other recently. in short, it's a way to get her attention.
---------------------------------------------------
to my friend kagi,

how are you? i can't remember when was the last time we had a decent conversation. anyways, i saw the your post/entry before you deleted most of your social media accounts. i now understand why you were so mad at "them" and you decided to just detach yourself from such social media sites. yes, it can be saddening, the medium that was intentionally created to reach out and make friends is the very same medium that is used to promote negativity and remorse. i salute you for having that strong will to detach yourself from such rubbish and insensitive actions. the words they used were harsh and i myself felt offended, even though i was not part of the discussion. i am proud of you because you just stayed away from the mess and walked away from such hostility.

i hope i can do the same, but like what you said in your post,

"how you handle it depends on how well you know yourself. if you know that it will cause you more harm and negative emotions, then why should you endure it? life has too much to offer, why focus on this lone hostility against you?"

i admit that i do not know myself too well. you know what i am talking about right? you know how much i hold on to the people whom i trust. you know how important it is for me to have that "company" so as to prevent some "events" from happening. though i rarely post in my social media accounts as compared before, the total detachment that you did was just admirable. i still check mine every evening (for some announcements or post from real friends) and i admit that sometimes i feel that "emotion" you were referring to in your post.

anyways, i hope you can teach me how you did it. hehehehe.

take care my dear friend. till next time.

beatriz

ps. email me once you have read this. i know you have a lot of comments in store for me after scrutinizing my post. :p
