Why I am changing the details of my social media accounts

Social media is a great instrument to connect with loved ones, friends and even reconnect with forgotten friendships. We also use social media to share learning, promote and look back at past memories.

Though this has been a big help in making people closer together, social media has also been used as an instrument to scam and take advantage of other people.

With everything accessible on the internet right now, it has become easier to obtain information that may be used against an individual. We cannot deny that even though we have privacy settings, with the right programs and in-depth research on a person, private information can be leaked.

We should also be aware of the information we share on social media - especially when it involves family information, money, and investment.

I temporarily deactivated my Facebook account because someone who is closely related to me shared information on social media that may endanger my family and me. Though it was only available for 24 hours, we do not know who viewed the information.

Yes, I may seem paranoid, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

I am currently changing the details of all my social media accounts.

Everyone, please be safe both from the virus and from people who might take advantage of you, especially in this time of need. People have become desperate to do anything just to survive.

Everyone, please keep safe.
