the cove

minna~

yesterday, i finally had a chance to watch the documentary The Cove.

here are my previous entries about it.

dolphins
january 2 update

in my first blog,

i was hoping that there was more to the documentary than the exaggerated trailer.

yes there was more to it than the exaggerated trailer but there was still a feeling of exaggeration in some scenes.

the documentary was very bothering indeed,

maybe there should have been a debriefing to "release" the tension due to the documentary.

on my second entry (the second link)

i mentioned about my experience watching a dolphin show last january.

i did mention that i had mixed emotions about it.

i also mentioned that i was bothered about the fact that it was supported by National Geographic (NatGeo).

after the watching the documentary yesterday,

there was a small talk and the dolphin show was mentioned.

i took the opportunity to ask what the speaker has to say about the National Geographic sponsoring the dolphin show.

he said that the National Geographic later on withdrew from their sponsorship after a number of people wrote to them (NatGeo) against it.

the speaker later said that the National Geographic here is the Philippines is run by an Ad agency,

they have no background in research or the sciences.

and after hearing that, my question in my previous entries were answered.

personal thoughts:

every country has their own "dark side."

nobody has any right to judge others. we all have reasons for our actions. listening to these reasons may results to better outcomes.

it is said that an initiative from a smaller group can make a big difference. this goes both ways, positive and negative initiatives.

an action of a small group does not necessarily mean the intention of a bigger group.

ps. there really should have been a debriefing after the documentary. there should have alloted more time for the said event.
